Manassen Foods was a privately owned company with turnover in excess of $AUD 700m which has been providing service excellence to the multi-faceted FMCG industry for over 70 years – owners Bright Foods

Manassen’s Brand portfolio is wide and diverse and spans across many food categories in the Retail and Foodservice channels spanning Dry Groceries, Perishables and Specialty Foods the majority of which are imported.

The Challenge

There existed a major requirement for Manassen Foods to establish strong and sustainable Sales and Operation Planning processes within its business and leveraging significant investments made in systems support to improve customer service performance.

With a significant reliance on imports and the associated supply chain challenges our brief was to deliver for Manassen Foods an integrated Sales & Operating planning process and to recommend and implement steps to improve financial performance, customer service levels and operational efficiencies

How it was resolved

Evaluation, development and implementation of people, systems, process and performance requirements including training and skills required to deliver the process.

Included Software/ Hardware integration, promotional planning &trade spend management, product hierarchies, new product integration, performance management KPI’s, change management and people training / development.

The work involved the development of structured information flows, the mapping of an Operational Planning process and documentation of accountabilities, and setting of the target benchmarks across sales, marketing, finance, supply chain, manufacturing and purchasing.

The results achieved

Successful implementation resulted in improved customer service, stock visibility, purchasing efficiencies, cross functional communication, optimized inventory levels, reduced out of stocks / excess stocks, improved promotional effectiveness and financial management
